CompUSA and HP announced the opening of two HP Business Resource Centers, stores situated inside two existing CompUSA retail locations in South Florida: Miami-Dadeland and Plantation. Featuring the full scope of HP products for small-to-medium-sized businesses, the centers provide small- and medium-sized business owners and managers with the opportunity to enjoy a hands-on experience with products and solutions designed to help them manage, protect and grow their companies.

“It is very gratifying to partner with a company of HP’s stature for these unique stores, the first of their kind in North America. CompUSA visitors already include a number of small and medium-sized business owners. We hope that they will find their visits to our stores to be even more rewarding as they can now browse not only our huge selection of computers, computer products, HDTVs and electronics, but also a full slate of HP commercial products and solutions, presented in state-of-the-art interactive displays. We invite small business owners across Miami to come out and see what HP has on offer at CompUSA at our grand opening celebration.”

The HP Business Resource Center experience is further enhanced with the new HP Virtual Sales Consultant that enables customers to connect directly with an HP expert. This web-based video chat enables customers to instantly talk live, via webcam, with an HP small- and medium-sized business expert about the HP business solutions and products featured in the store, plus the overall HP business product portfolio.

“HP’s in-store presence is about being where customers want to buy; showing them solutions that help them manage, protect and grow their businesses; and supporting them with an exceptional experience that includes access to HP professionals,” said Kathy Chou, Vice President of Worldwide Small and Midsize Business Strategy and Commercial Sales at HP. “We call this philosophy HP Total Care and we are delighted to extend this experience to South Florida businesses with our HP Business Resource Centers in CompUSA.”

Grand Opening Celebration

The grand opening of the new HP store at the Miami-Dadeland CompUSA will be held on-site on the evening of Tuesday, December 8, 6:30pm-9:00pm:

The ComputerTV crew of tech professionals and on-screen hosts will be on-site, covering the event and conducting giveaways and contests. Those who cannot make it in-person can visit http://com.puter.tv/ to enjoy it, live. The event will also be simulcast by ComputerTV at other CompUSA locations throughout Florida.

The Overtown Youth Center is a Miami facility which was founded by the Alonzo Mourning Charities to provide disadvantaged youth with ongoing support and leadership to help build a brighter tomorrow. CompUSA was happy to donate 350 USB Flash Drives to the Youth Center for their Back-To-School project – and we were there to further help with the packing of the bookbags with the flash drives, pencils and other needed supplies for the upcoming school year.

ComputerTV hostesses spoke with the students and several volunteers at the Center and talked a little bit of tech with them too! Last year, CompUSA assisted the Latinos Unidos Center in Miami with a project, there providing 25 computer systems for the Center to aid in their educational efforts as many of these students do not have computers at home. The donated flash drives will provide a “transport” means to get homework from school and to the Overtown Youth Center, where the children can use on-site computers and printers to complete their homework and research.

Watch for an upcoming video about the event!

CBS channel 4 reports, “A soldier serving in Afghanistan will be with his wife ‘virtually’ on the day she gives birth to their child.

Vanesia Butler, who is six months pregnant, has been preparing for the birth knowing that her husband Darvin’s military service will keep him overseas. Wednesday the Coral Springs couple received an unexpected gift from CompUSA and Forgotten Soldiers Outreach.

“I was overwhelmed with happiness when I found out that my husband will get to be by my side in the hospital room, at least virtually, to experience the birth of our baby,” said Vanesia. “Now he’ll be able to hear the baby’s first cry, even from thousands of miles away from home.”

CompUSA donated two Hewlett-Packard ProBook 4510s with built-in webcams to Vanesia and showed her how to make video and voice calls using Skype.

“It is so wonderful to see CompUSA take the initiative to join our program in support of America’s troops,” said Lynelle Chauncey Zelnar, Executive Director of FSO in a written statement. “This donation will ensure that a soldier does not have to miss the birth of his child while serving our country overseas. I can’t even imagine delivering without my spouse by my side. This will truly make a lifelong difference in this military family’s life.”

In addition to the laptops CompUSA and IT management software company CA donated a $10,000 savings bond for the Butler family to open a college savings account for their new baby.

“We wish Vanesia and her husband only the best as they embark on their exciting new adventure in parenthood and we are happy to provide technology to bring them together during these special times,” said spokesperson for Systemax Technology Group which includes CompUSA.”
